Licensing by Profession: Experience & Requirements

DHP's own work-experience policy sets the required duration by profession, specialty, scope of practice, academic qualification and place of work rather than by one universal figure — for General Dentists and Pharmacists it is two years, while some physicians holding an approved specialty certificate qualify regardless of years served. A break in clinical practice of under two years needs nothing extra; longer breaks require a period of supervised practice that grows with the gap, and a break of more than ten years is not eligible for registration. Your grade — general practitioner, specialist, consultant or senior consultant — affects both your permitted scope of practice and your salary band, so applying under the correct title matters.
Physicians: a recognised MBBS/MD plus internship, with the required experience set by DHP according to the grade you apply for — some physicians with an approved specialty certificate qualify for specialist or consultant registration regardless of years served.
